Since the beginning of 2016, there has been a momentum to resurrect a book festival for Inverness. A group of enthusiasts has been meeting since early summer, adopted a formal constitution on 2nd September 2016 and formed as NessBookFest.

The group will run a two-day event in November this year, with emphasis on grassroots writing and local writers, as well as guest speakers.

The event will be mainly located in the Central Library, with other events in schools and Waterstones Inverness. More fringe venues are yet be announced. Most events will be ticketed but free of charge to attend. Each event will last an hour or so, with ongoing children’s activities and some parallel sessions. Participants pledging support include picture book and children’s authors, crime and thriller authors, graphic novelists/illustrators, a political cartoonist, non-fiction writers, literary fiction writers film/fiction tie-ins.

There will also be a literary walking tour of the town and various outreach activities, including Gaelic writing, and writing and illustration workshops.
